Herbicides and pesticides include
2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid,
sodium arsenite, warfarin, and carbaryl. A New Zealand study compared incidence
of congenital anomalies in specific regions during years of spraying
with 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T) (1972-1976) with that
in years of no spraying (1959-1965). The three most common
mixtures were Agent Orange [esters of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid
(2,4-D) and 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T)], Agent White
(triisopropanolamine salts of 2,4-D and picloram), and an arsenical
called Agent Blue (cacodylic acid). |
