Experimental use of IPv6 multicast technology has been pioneered within the 6NET Project of the European Commission," said Kees Neggers, managing director of SURFnet. The prime objective of the Euro6IX project is to research appropriate architecture, design, develop, deploy and validate the first Pan-European pre-commercial IPv6 Internet Exchanges Network, connecting several regional and strategic neutral IPv6 Internet Exchange points across Europe, and achieve higher levels of robustness and service quality than currently offered by IPv4 Internet Exchange Networks The Euro6IX consortium will closely cooperate with the 6NET consortium. Speakers at summit in Washington will address the major achievements of the newly formed European Commission IPv6 Task Force and the IPv6 Forum in creating and winning the 6NET and Euro6IX projects, two large-scale IPv6 test beds. |
