The chairman of the AIPU committee, Musallam Al-Mesheni said the meeting came at a time when the Palestinian people were subject to a brutal Zionist aggression as part of a series of Zionist atrocities against the innocent and disarmed people of Gaza.

The Sultanate is represented in AIPU by Raheelah bint Amir al Riyamiyah and Musallam bin Ali al Ma"ashani, members of the State Council, as well as Salim bin Ali al Ka"abi, Deputy Chairman of the Majlis Ash"shura and Ahmed bin Salim Ra"afeet, member of the Majlis Ash"shura.
The announcement was made on Monday during the 19th AIPU conference which is being hosted by Kuwait from April 7 to 10.
The three-day conference will discuss the activities of the AIPU executive committee, a number of regional issues, and the role of Arab MPs in bolstering Arab solidarity, in addition to discussing reports of political committees, parliamentary relations, financial, economic and legal issues, human rights, and the committee on women and children affairs.
AIPU chairman highlighted the need for organized action by Arab delegations and participating countries, particularly by the grouping representing Islamic countries, according to a statement published on Mashhadani's web site.
Regarding the topics on the agenda of the 23rd conference of the AIPU, he said the conference, due on Sunday, will discuss the recommendations of the just-ended the 19th session of the executive committee of the Union.
The AIPU Secretary General visited the Majlis A'Shura hall during which he was briefed on the major systems and modern technologies, as well as the method of running sessions and the modern e-voting mechanism.
Concluding its 21st emergency session in Cairo, the AIPU called for an emergency meeting of the UN Human Rights Council for bringing to an immediate halt the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, and retribution against those who perpetrated such an onslaught.
