This convention of differentiating between WDLs and ALTs serves to
recognize the remarkably tractable nature of surgically accessible
lesions and helps prevent overly aggressive treatment for a sarcoma that
has virtually no potential for metastasis and is otherwise responsive to
conservative measures. -- Roche Diagnostics announced today that the
results of the ALTS (ASCUS/LSIL Triage Study for Cervical Cancer)
clinical trial, which were published in the July 20, 2005 issue of the
Journal of the National Cancer Institute (JNCI),(1) support the use of
genotyping certain human papillomavirus (HPV) high-risk types
(particularly HPV16). ALTS is the leading national industry association whose mission is
to promote facilities-based local telecommunications competition. |
