* Near-Earth Asteroids are classified into three types: Amors,
which orbit between the orbits of Earth and Mars; Apollos, which cross
Earth's orbit; and Atens, asteroids that are always closer to the
sun than Earth is. We
might even see in this the tight relations between fin amors and lament,
between courtly love song and the complainte, between martial blood and
venutian tears. Amors cross the orbit of Mars and
approach that of Earth, and 10 percent of them cross Earth's path
over the course of a few hundred to a few thousand years. |
