Although AMPUs fell faster in other regions
in Q2 2006, such as in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and
Africa, Western Europe was notable in recording its eighth consecutive
quarter of AMPU decline, reversing a lengthy period of growth. "The complexity and cost of conventional core network
infrastructure is directly at odds with the goals of today's
service providers - namely the need to achieve strategic cost reduction
targets, gain competitive advantage, increase AMPU and reduce
churn," said Paul Magelli, CEO of Apertio.
Operators in the region are losing ground with AMPU levels 50 percent
below the global average in the current quarter, according to the newly
released report, "Wireless Operator Benchmarking Report Q2
