The study, "Quarterly Operator Performance Benchmarking, Q2 2006," from the Strategy Analytics Wireless Network Strategies service, reported a third consecutive quarter of AMPUs
below the $15 mark, a level not seen since 2002.
Global AMPUs were down 10 percent to $12 per subscriber per month in Q2 2005.
Following more than three years of growth, AMPUs have posted annual declines for the last three quarters in Western Europe and there is no return to growth in sight.
Globally, AMPU among the operators fell by 15 percent over the previous year, to a low of $11.
Even more mature markets have not been immune to AMPU declines, with 3 percent declines in North America and Western Europe as competitive pressures and, in the case of Europe, regulatory interconnect rate cuts, left their mark.
