Finally, the upper arm and upper leg bones of a Neandertal baby
found in Israel's Amud Cave appear nearly human, says Hartley Odwak
of University College London. In December 1996, a Jerusalem municipal planning committee
approved a proposal to build housing for 132 Jewish families in the
Palestinian neighborhood of Ras-al Amud in East Jerusalem. That, at least, is the scenario presented by scientists who
unearthed the infant's remains in 1992 at the Amud cave near the
Sea of Galilee. |
