Aimed at the African Caribbean community and led by Anji Daniels and Shirley Parnell, the APAA was set up in 2001 to promote classical music training for youngsters and adults from the inner city areas of Aston and Lozells The musicians meet for training sessions at the Birmingham Conservatoire.
APAA broke off as a separate nonprofit during the advocacy grant period, and was poised to flourish after SAMHSA shifted its attention to awarding recovery support services money.
As a result, membership bases were dropping, especially among APAA and ASIA's core membership of manufacturers and distributors.
