To further cement the physical therapy profession's relationship with policymakers, APTA also is identifying health policy questions. In 1995, APTA and the Institute for Alternative Futures drew up a plan for a national, intermodal transportation system that links major airports, railroad stations and other facilities to convenient, accessible transit service. Shields and Goldstein also will discuss a model for how APTA, the Foundation for Physical Therapy, and other funding agencies can work together to maximize funding for physical therapist researchers. |
