As tonight's installment opens, Julius Caesar has been assassinated, Marc Antony (James Purefoy) is scrambling for his life, and Atia (Polly Walker) -- who was Caesar's niece and a sometime Antony mistress -- has already blithely given her lover up for dead.
Les Janka, founder and president of Les Janka International, moderated a lively discussion with panelists Tarek Atia, assistant editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram Weekly; Adel Iskandar, author of Al-Jazeera: The Story of the Network that is Rattling Governments and Redefining Modern Journalism; and Howard Schneider, local business editor and former Cairo bureau chief of The Washington Post.
In one gruesome example, Caesar's scheming niece Atia (Polly Walker, somewhat overplaying the penny-dreadful villainy) gets drenched in the liquid at the sacrifice of a garlanded cow, while temple attendants thrash about in an eerie dance nearby, cracking whips.
