In several European studies, a substance called acetyl-l-carnitine,
which is found naturally in our bodies' cells, appeared to slow
down the mental deterioration of Alzheimer's. A naturally occurring compound named acetyl-L-carnitine may slow
the worsening of dementia symptoms among people with Alzheimer's
disease, a preliminary study suggests. Others note that a synthetic version of a naturally occurring
substance called acetyl-L-carnitine appears promising in its ability to
both enhance cholinergic function and prevent oxidative damage. |
