Briefly, [delta]-ALA reacts with acetylacetone and formaldehyde
to form 2,6-diactyl-1, 5-dimethyl-7-(2-carboxyethyl)-3H-pyrrolizine
(Figure 1), a derivative that can be quantified via fluorescence
detection at excitation/ emission wavelengths of 370 nm and 460 nm,
respectively. Peroximon curing agents for polyester resins include MEK peroxides
(K1 and K10), methylisobutyl ketone peroxide (K2), acetylacetone (K3),
