92-603 in 1972, which replaced the Federal-State matching programs of Old-Age Assistance, Aid to the Blind, and Aid to the Permanently and Totally Disabled with the SSI program, beginning in 1974.
The supplemental security income (SSI) program replaced the federally assisted, State-administered programs of old-age assistance, aid to the blind, and aid to the permanently and totally disabled.
