This information
was until recently known to a very narrowly circumscribed circle of
people, including the present reviewer who in those years served in the
Baku Air Defense District. The
last one--the Moscow Air Defense District (now known as the Special
Purpose Command)--is not structurally comprised of air defense large
strategic formations (armies), while a formation consisting of corps and
divisions can hardly be effective on a level higher than operational. Govorov proposed three categories of formations, in
accordance with the importance of the country's political-economic
districts and large centers: air defense districts on the front, army,
and corps level. |
