Recent surveys conducted by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry show that 74 percent of the adults surveyed believed that an unattractive smile could harm a person's career prospects while 92 percent thought a nice smile was an important social asset.
``There's no question that elective services like whitening are going to be a real good thing as far as building a practice in an age of managed care,'' said dentist Tom Orent, a former editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
