DFC units can run on any hydrocarbon fuel source, including
renewables like ethanol, anaerobic digester gas (generated in wastewater
treatment) and other biofuels, as well as propane and methane. Situated at the Municipal
Wastewater Treatment Works in Ahlen, Germany, it is the first fuel cell
in Europe to operate on anaerobic digester gas. The HES effort will be directed
toward a capability of using readily available fuels such as natural
gas, propane and anaerobic digester gas from municipal and industrial
wastewater treatment facilities. |
