Among those aspects are the incorporation of UNITA soldiers into the Angolan Armed Forces and their demobilization, and the selection and incorporation of UNITA personnel into the Angolan National Police.
At a 20 April session of the Joint Commission in Luanda, the parties had agreed on the principle of "global incorporation" of UNITA soldiers into the national army, to be followed by gradual demobilization until the Angolan Armed Forces reached the level of 90,000 troops, it was reported.
On 11 December 199 3, agreement had been reached on the general and specific principles, as well as modalities, relating to all military issues, including: reestablishment of a cease-fire; withdrawal, quartering and demilitarization of all UNITA military forces; disarming of all civilians; and completion of the formation of the Angolan Armed Forces, including demobilization.
