Eye researchers have pursued artificial vision through devices like Second Sight's for 20 years, borrowing ideas from the first cochlear implants that restored hearing in deaf patients. Where before the telescope would allow astronomers to see the Blazing World only as an illusory parahelion, now in its inability to show more than a monochrome, the telescope with its artificial vision misses the magnitude and power of this "Bl azing" world. In addition to demonstrations of the SLC series core blowers and information on the new Key-Core line installation at Eisenwerk Bruhl and core production cells at several brake disk foundries, Loramendi's exhibit featured its new LAV 3-D artificial vision system. |
