This firm has worked on several major projects, including the Caltrans District 7 headquarters in Los Angeles, graduate student housing at the University of Toronto, the Student Recreation Center at the University of Cincinnati, a new academic building for The Cooper Union in New York and the Cahill Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics at Caltech.
In an upcoming Astronomy and Astrophysics, Gael Chauvin of the European Southern Observatory in Santiago, Chile, and her colleagues report that the red object is probably a giant planet, about five times as massive as Jupiter, orbiting the young, 8-million-year-old brown dwarf called 2M1207.
``The concept of this program is to provide school students with astronomical data at the research grade for hands-on learning in skills such as computing, data analysis, the use of the Internet, math and astronomy and astrophysics,'' a district report said.
