Encino resident Pia Barma said she was flying to New York to visit friends. More than a century ago, amateur archaeologists uncovered the skeletons of six people, along with various ceremonial items, inside an Italian cave called Barma Grande. Similarly, in one of his tapestry designs, Amadou Ly depicts Wolof philosopher, Kocc Barma, another local cultural hero in the fight against French colonization. |
