The back matter of BDFSN includes a bibliography of published collations, two tables correlating BDFSN numbers with excavation numbers, and a listing of texts by category - however, since BDFSN does not always present the texts in numerical order, it would have been more useful to provide an index of texts in that order, giving the page on which each text appears.
In visual terms, both CAT and BDFSN are a great improvement on KTU: the print is sharp and clear in both.
Specialists may still wish to check the tablets - or at least photographs taken with the newer techniques - but most of those who wish to consult Ugaritic texts will find CAT an adequate handbook and will turn to the electronic version of BDFSN for the latest texts and readings.
