British Airways purchased BWIA West Indies Airways' seven coveted slot pairs and landing rights at London Heathrow for no more than [pounds sterling]5 million, according to press reports in Trinidad & Tobago. On these results, it injected additional capital into 50 percent-owned ailing airline BWIA. Trinidad and Tobago has its own national air carrier, BWIA West Indies Airways Limited, which offers daily scheduled service to and from Port of Spain and North, South and Central America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe and other Caribbean islands. |
