1972 The Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention, an international treaty, takes ambitious steps to ban both biological and chemical weapons. The prevention of biological warfare through the strengthening of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) is one of the department's main research projects. The Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention prohibits the development, production, and stockpiling of biological weapons agents or delivery devices for anything other than peaceful purposes. |
