IAFIS is a biometric identification technology enabling border patrol agents to search its automated biometric identification system and the FBI's criminal fingerprint database simultaneously. In a new briefing paper, Meridian discusses the pros and cons of eight forms of biometric identification technologies and concludes that, hurdles aside, financial institutions will, in the future, be able to use biometric technologies to identify their customers in financial transactions.
