Fred Redmond, International Vice President of the Pittsburgh-based United Steelworkers, will be a special guest and speaker at the CBTU conference.
Oliver Montgomery, a founding CBTU member, president of the Pittsburgh chapter, and member of the national board of directors, said, "It's more important than ever that people have access to decent jobs with good pay, especially in the African American community.
Montgomery said other key issues to be tackled by CBTU delegates include national health care reform, 2008 election activities and needed protection of pension benefits.
The one-day conference for Pennsylvania and Ohio CBTU members will take place at the United Steelworkers of America (USWA) international headquarters in downtown Pittsburgh, located at the corner of Stanwix and Blvd.
