They provide CERC with a street address or postcode, and are alerted only when pollution levels in that area are expected to rise. Its press officer, James Milne, has emailed to say that its original meaning was Construction Industry Research & Information Association, was for a time before that CEAR and then CERC, but that a decade ago it became just five initials which should be read in conjunction with the strapline, and I quote, 'provider of performance improvement product and services in the construction and related industries'. CERC was initially formed by Boston-area environmentalists in the fall of 2002 after their city was chosen as 2004 host for the Democrats. |
