Arthur, the California Horse Racing Board's equine medical director, made the comment shortly before CHRB leaders met with about 50 thoroughbred trainers at Santa Anita to discuss a board committee's push for tougher penalties for medication violations and tighter restrictions on the use of clenbuterol as well as a ban on anabolic steroids for horses. Most of the owners of potentially "historic" homes have appealed to the CHRB. Licht, who served on the CHRB for three years and was Chairman in 2003, is credited with expediting the initiation of advanced deposit wagering (ADW) in California, a move that has since helped to boost fan interest in the state's horse racing products. |
