19 March 2015 - French IT services company Sopra Steria (Paris: SOP) (NYSE: SOP) is planning to acquire European airframer Airbus' CIMPA SAS product lifecycle management services subsidiary, the company said on Thursday.
Acquiring CIMPA would enable Sopra Steria to bolster its positions in relation to major players in aerospace, transport and energy by capitalising on industry-specific expertise in the design and manufacturing of products and equipment as well as full lifecycle data management.
Sopra Steria (Paris:SOP), a provider of digital transformation solutions in Europe, announced on Thursday the proposed acquisition of CIMPA SAS, an Airbus subsidiary specialising in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
According to the company, acquiring CIMPA would enable it to bolster its positions in relation to major players in aerospace, transport and energy by capitalising on industry-specific expertise in the design and manufacturing of products and equipment as well as full lifecycle data management.
Airbus is pursuing negotiations for the sale of its subsidiary CIMPA SAS with the Sopra Steria group, a European player in the digital transformation sector.
Airbus will now discuss the terms and conditions of this sale with Sopra Steria in the coming weeks, and CIMPA SAS will start an information and consultation procedure with the works council as required by law.
CIMPA with an employee base of around 940 people, has active operations covering the area of product lifecycle management.
According to sources, Indian software giant Infosys has entered the race to own the engineering services arm of Airbus, CIMPA.
With 940 employees, French CIMPA works in the field of product lifecycle management.
