WASHINGTON -- Thirty winners have been selected in the Fiscal Year 2005 Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Environmental Awards competition, sponsored by the CNO Environmental Readiness Division. VT-10 received the 2004 Grampaw Pettibone Unit Award, presented by the CNO and the Naval Safety Center to recognize an organization for contributions to aviation safety awareness through publications. In my view a federated structure needs a CNO just as much as any other system, but the current structure may not be so supportive of introducing or sustaining an effective CNO post, if it were difficult to get all the states to agree how much power and influence such a role should have. |
