Estudiantes will represent CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation) in the Club World Cup for the first time, where they will compete against the winners of the world's other confederation cup competitions, including FC Barcelona of Spain, Atlante FC of Mexico, Auckland City FC of New Zealand and Al Ahli of the UAE.
The country's football federation was founded in 1895 and Chile were one of the four founding members of the South American federation CONMEBOL in 1916, but they have never won a major international honour.
That is the potential continent, not CONCACAF (North and Central America), Africa or CONMEBOL (South America).
