The CPAI assesses the following components: * Program implementation: Examines the conditions under which the program was introduced. Using the CPAI, Gendreau, Goggin and Smith (2001) summarized 291 correctional treatment programs from various settings and found that approximately 70 percent received a failing grade, suggesting a great many programs are not attending to correctional best practices. Over the years, the authors along with researchers from the University of Cincinnati have used the CPAI to assess hundreds of correctional programs. |
