CPLN president and founder Mike Gordon said, "We're committed to work with all willing parties to propose specific and sustainable market fixes, near and medium-term, and to contribute to Mayor Bloomberg's call for a 'plan for sustainability' issued on December 12, 2006. CPLN argues that the NYISO has incorrectly processed the impact on the Demand Response Program, the long-term rate increases for consumers due to construction of fewer power plants and the increased use of costly peaking power plants to bail the city out in a power emergency. CPLN will also pay each facility for its willingness to support the grid in crisis mode by activating the diesel-fuelled emergency generators located at each site. |
