The cytochrome P450 monooxygenase family (CYP1, CYP2, and CYP3) are responsible for phase I metabolism and promote oxidation, hydroxylation, reduction, and hydrolysis.
Of these, the polymorphic CYP1, CYP2, and CYP3 families are responsible for over 40 % of P450-mediated drug metabolism [33].
