A different proposal for the land was rejected by the CZM committee in Sept. The principle behind the CZM is to idealize the fracture process in solids as occurring within thin layers confined to a line segment or a narrow strip, whereby the relationship between the cohesive force and the separating surfaces within the layers can be defined.
