Canada case, rules the failure to include "sexual orientation" in section 3 of the Canadian Human Rights Act is discriminatory. In separate interviews with the Anglican Journal, Arctic diocesan bishop Andrew Atagotaaluk and Bishop Robertson said they did not think the diocese was being discriminatory or that it violated the Canadian Human Rights Act by banning gays from employment and lumping them in the same category as pedophiles, who are considered criminal offenders. Despite the assurances that "the proposed Anti-terrorism Act includes rigorous checks and balances in order to uphold the rights and freedoms of Canadians," the only recognition on the rights side were to amend the Criminal Code to add 'on-line hate' and 'mischief against places of religious worship/religions property' and to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act to prohibit 'spreading repeated hate messages' by any communications technology. |
