Author(s): Urban Emmenegger, MD (corresponding author) [1], Yoo-Joung Ko, MD, MMSc, SM, FRCPC [2] Docetaxel is the first-line cytotoxic treatment of choice for advanced castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) resulting in improved palliation and a modest survival benefit compared to the former standard of care mitoxantrone, as demonstrated by two large randomized trials.
The open-label, multiple-dose study will examine the safety and effectiveness of TAK-700 in patients with chemotherapy-naove metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
A second presentation ("Correlation of progression-free survival and overall survival in men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer who failed first-line chemotherapy: results from the SPARC trial," Halabi et al, Abstract #5150) evaluated whether PFS at three months was predictive of OS and explored the statistical dependencies between PFS and OS.
