The two companies developed a CDM facility in order to recover methane from a tapioca starch factory (in the Kalasin Province of Northeastern Thailand) by working through (Thai based) Cassava Waste Energy Co. Using the research duties of the CDM as a springboard, ORIX will also consider participating in various projects, providing financial services to project leaders of the CDM, and strive to actively assist and promote activities regarding global environment protection, both in and out of Japan. Japan's many CDM projects include the destruction of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HFCs) and other greenhouse chemicals, methane gas capture from Brazilian landfills and Chinese coal mines, and biomass (such as electric power generation from rice husks in Thailand). |
