Dr Harry Heimlich, 81 - who developed the Heimlich Manoeuvre, which has saved thousands of choking victims worldwide - said: "The fact that President Bush had bruises on his face indicates that he may have fallen on his face and therefore on his abdomen as well. Lieutenant Mance was unaware of the emergency until the choking victim began to thrash in her seat, and he saw the frightened looks of her companions. At least 1,000 lives could be saved each year if more people knew the Heimlich maneuver wasn't just for saving choking victims. |
