The firm is working with a host of high-profile utilities, including Duke Power, Consolidated Edison in New York, Commonwealth Edison in Chicago, Dominion Power in Virginia, First Energy in the Northeast, and national phone companies like Verizon Communications, Sprint and Cingular Wireless. The company said the new title carries information on energy prices and volumes of "actual transactions," rather than bids and offers, of power at major grid points in the Midwest, such as the Cinergy & Commonwealth Edison hubs, the Mid-Continent Area Power Pool, the Mid-American Interconnected Network and the Central Area Liability Council. and Commonwealth Edison last week announced a ``smart home'' test program that will allow Chicago-area customers to use the phone to turn on - or off - an air conditioner, a heater or even a washing machine. |
