The recently completed 36-month advanced technology demonstration (ATD) of Lockheed Martin's Compact Kinetic Energy Missile (Ckem) gives an indication of what the US Army is seeking to replace the Tow. For the vertical-launch, direct and indirect fire variants of FCS, the Army is seeking a compact kinetic energy missile (CKEM), which ideally would be 4-feet long and weigh 50 pounds, said Andrews. The Lockheed Martin Compact Kinetic Energy Missile (CKem) originated in the US Army's Line of Sight Anti-Tank (Losat) project which was intended to provide the army's five light infantry divisions with a missile that could kill any tank. |
