205 (1972), a decision that seems limited to its particularfacts,the United States Supreme Court held that a state could not constitutionally apply its compulsory school attendance law to require secondary school attendance by the children of a traditional religious community whose religion forbade education beyond the secondary school level.
The 19th century saw many significant changes to the way education, and schooling was conducted with the introduction of compulsory school attendance laws.
