The Council expressed its continuing support for the Secretary-General's ongoing cooperation with the Chairman-in-Office of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) in efforts to "bring peace to Georgia and elsewhere in the region". She is a past chairman of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe and was elected to the European Parliament in 1995. The Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe concluded in Paris last November and the new set of confidence- and security-building measures adopted in the framework of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe have genuinely established a new basis for growing cooperation. |
