Mensuration determines the exact three-dimensional target location by applying mathematical algorithms to compare two images within the digital point position database, or DPPDB, of the same terrain iteratively until they match.
The National Imagery and Mapping Agency manages the so-called digital point positioning database, or DPPDB.
The DPPDB is a stereo image-based software developed by the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA), now known as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), which was introduced in the mid-1990s.
