In developing the DVDRAM discs, Maxell Corporation utilized optical thermal simulation to optimize the crystallization and diffusion speed of the phase-changed recording layer. It encodes video and audio, and can write to all of the popular consumer writable optical formats, including DVD-R, DVD-R/W, DVD + R/W, and DVDRAM in both single and dual-layer. Dave Platt of TiVo told attendees that HDDs are "the obvious choice" for recording television programs, compared to videotape, or even optical media such as DVDRAM. |
