DXM is a cough-suppressing drug found in more than 125 over-the-counter cold and cough medications such as Coricidin, Robitussin, and Vicks Formula 44. Both over-the-counter medications contain dextromethorphan, nicknamed DXM, which has been discovered by adolescents in the last five years, said Richard Geller, medical toxicologist and director of the California Poison Control System in Fresno. Depending on the dose, DXM produces symptoms ranging from a sense of floating and euphoria to vivid hallucinations, profuse sweating, and nausea. |
