Nunez's support of the Death with Dignity Act is a brave decision and should be seen with respect toward those who are in pain and have chosen to speed up their imminent death. In 1994 Oregon passed its Death With Dignity Act by popular vote, allowing physician-assisted suicide for terminally ill patients. Since 1998, a reported total of 208 patients have ended their lives under the provisions of Oregon's Death with Dignity Act, fewer than thirty patients a year. |
