Current Status/ The Way Ahead Milestone A was approved in April 2005 by the Milestone Decision Authority and Department of Defense Chief Information Officer.
In a ceremony held recently to celebrate MITRE's 50th anniversary, the Honorable John Grimes, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration (ASD NII) / Department of Defense Chief Information Officer (CIO), presented MITRE with the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service.
He is a member of the Senior Executive Service and provides Department of Defense Chief Information Officer policy and implementation oversight to the smart card-based Common Access Card.
