Called desorption electrospray ionization (DESI), the technique could be used to create a new class of fast, accurate detectors for applications ranging from food safety to homeland security, said R. Prosolia will develop models of its Omni Spray Ion Source for desorption electrospray ionization that are compatible with Waters's MS systems, including, initially, the LCT Premier XE. The instrument consists of a miniature mass spectrometer combined with a technique called desorption electrospray ionization, or DESI. |
