The bishop was accused of refusing to employ homosexual activist John Reaney as a diocesan youth officer on the grounds of his orientation.
It also recognised that the post of diocesan youth officer falls within the small number of posts outside of the clergy which are within the religious exemptions of the Sexual Discrimination Act.
John Reaney, 42, was refused a pounds 25,000 a year job as a diocesan youth officer "on the grounds of sexual orientation", an employment tribunal found.
