While small, one or two man eCommerce shops and eBay sellers are still businesses, they quite often demonstrate a lack of knowledge when it comes to their own rights and responsibilities, the most common of which is the EU Distance Selling Regulations, and how they apply to business to business transactions. Since the Consumer Protection Distance Selling Regulations were introduced in 2000, sellers must give consumers specific information before they buy, like details of the goods or service offered, delivery and payment arrangements, and the name and address of the supplier - not a PO Box number. If the policy is not made clear, it breaches the contract and distance selling regulations. |
